Choral Groups
UL Soundsis an audition only group that specializes in jazz, pop, and Broadway music.
UL Lafayette Opera and Musical Theatre
have a successful performing history in musical theatre reaching back to the 1960's. It's three-fold mission has been to provide a training ground for young performers with its mainstage productions, educate a new generation of musical theatre lovers with its tours in public schools, and enrich the cultural life of the campus by performing works not often seen in commercial venues.
Performing highlights from the previous years include: Gershwin's Of Thee I Sing, Mad About Mozart (a production one act, comic opera The Impressaio as well as scenes from Cosí Fan Tutte, The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni.), a performance of Sunday Excursion at the National Opera Association National Convention in New Orleans, tours of Goldilocks and the Three Bears which played to over 8,000 school children in the three parish area, and notable on campus performances of Company, Pirates of Penzance, Signor Deluso, Cabaret, H.M.S. Pinafore and Fantasticks.
University Chorus is a non-audition group open to all students enrolled at UL Lafayette. They perform a wide variety of choral literature from major choral works with the orchestra to lighter music.
UL Chorale is the premiere choral ensemble on campus. They are by audition only, and limited in numbers to approximately 25 students. They have toured and performed in Carnegie Hall in 1994 and again in 1997. The group is a selection by audition only and has music majors and non-majors.
